Blizzard Entertainment’s acclaimed MMORPG, World of Warcraft (WoW), has always been evolving and presents the players with new realms to explore and new challenges to overcome. The addition, The War Within, covers the underground of Azeroth where we get to learn lots of new stories, new zones and gameplay ways. This content is expanded in Patch 11.1, ‘Undermine(d)’, which puts the enigmatic goblin capital, Undermine, in the spotlight.

Exploring Khaz Algar: The Subterranean Frontier

The War Within takes players to Khaz Algar, a large underground continent consisting of four distinct zones: The Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall and Azj-Kahet. The Ringing Deeps has crystalline caverns, Azj’Kahet has the ancient nerubian empire, and so on. The main story involves the Harbinger of the Void, Xal’atath, which is an enormous threat to both Khaz Algar and the surface world of Azeroth. ​

Another aspect of this expansion is that the Earthen have become a playable race. The Earthen are the Titans’ descendants that bring their own lore and abilities to the Horde and Alliance factions in playing the game.

Cartels of Undermine Renown Track

The city is in heavy conflict between the four major goblin Cartels of Steamwheedle, Blackwater, Bilgewater, and The Venture Co, and when players first arrive in Undermine, they’ll be able to ally with a Cartel and run into all sorts of goblins.

New Mount: D.R.I.V.E.

The goblins were of course great engineers and technologists and of course what better way to show them off then with a brand new locomotion style. The new ground mount D.R.I.V.E. has stats that can be customized.

New Dungeon: Operation Floodgate

With Patch 11.1, there is a new dungeon called Operation Floodgate. A group of pesty goblins are trying to blow up a dam in this dungeon that would cause ruin to the Ringing Deeps. With the release of The War Within Season 2, this dungeon will be available immediately and will be a part of The War Within Season 2 Mythic+ Rotation.

Undermine Delves Content

Blizzard revealed in the Warcraft Direct that two new Delves will be coming to the Undermine area! These two new Delves will be joined by a new Zek’vir style Delve for chasing after new achievements and rewards for Season 2. Last, you will come across some new Curios created for Brann Bronzebeard, which are inspired by goblins.

New Delve Mount Reward: Gobtrotter

The new mount coming with Season 2 of Delves is the Gobtrotter. The goblin inspired flying machine will have all sorts of customisation options like the Delver’s Dirigible Delver’s Dirigible and even has a gold skin Transmog for the achievements associated with the Zekvir style Delve.

Brann Bronzebeard Tank Specialization

In Delves Season 2, Brann Bronzebeard will come to Tank Specialization. If players wish, they will soon be able to specialize Brann as a Tank, but his Skill Tree is still quite a mystery.

New Raid: Liberation of Undermine

Undermine brings with it a brand new raid, Liberation of Undermine. Eight bosses have been confirmed, and the final boss for this raid is the former Goblin Racial leader, Gallywix. In the city streets of Undermine, players will work with the goblin Cartels.

Gallagio Loyalty Raid Renown Track

The Renown Track for the Liberation of Undermine raid is very unique and provides raid buffs, Augment Runes and a Dinar like currency to purchase raid gear you want! Here’s what we know:

• There are 20 Levels for this Renown track, each of which has a reward.
• The only thing that gives Renown is the successful completion of the Liberation of Undermine raid.
• The rewards in the track include raid buffs, teleports, raid skips, interesting mounts, and much more!

This is a Renown track, Warband wide and difficulty agnostic. Renown Levels will also have a global cap of 1 new Renown per week. Those who start late will be able to catch up to the current global cap.

Tier Sets

Undermine(d) will use Tier Sets a little differently than they’ve been used in previous seasons and expansions. Now, Undermine(d) will grant a role based bonus and a specialization based bonus to Tier Sets. Undermine(d) also has a couple of extra details about Tier Sets:

• Bonuses based off of certain buffs are Role Based Bonuses. An example of buff: “Insurance!” is Luck of the Draw!
• The specialization will be 4-set Bonuses and the role will be 2-set Bonuses.
• The same methods of Acquisition are used by Undermine(d) for Tier Sets.

Delves: Solo and Cooperative Adventures

With desires of solo players in mind, The War Within features Delves, scalable mini dungeons available for solo or group players. There are a total of eleven difficulty tiers on these instances offering equivalent levels of loot as well as progression as seen in regular multiplayer content. Delves are for players who want to have fun without having to spend hours to achieve it.

To sum up, The War Within proves that, much as before, World of Warcraft remains a powerful IP that mixes proven elements with fresh ideas. From deep within Khaz Algar, customizing a goblin car in Undermine, to going solo in Delves, this is plenty of content to take advantage of.
